The Middle School
A transformative stage in a learner's journey

At The Shri Ram School, the Middle School years represent a transformative stage in a learner's journey—a period when students move from guided learning towards greater independence, self-awareness, and intellectual maturity. These years are designed to nurture curiosity, confidence, and character while helping students develop the academic and life skills needed to navigate an ever-evolving world.
Following the curriculum prescribed by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), the programme provides a balanced and engaging learning experience that combines academic rigour with inquiry, creativity, and real-world application. Students are encouraged to question thoughtfully, explore deeply, and connect ideas across disciplines, enabling them to become reflective and independent learners.
At TSRS, we recognise that every child learns differently. Through differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices, educators create learning environments where every student feels valued, supported, and appropriately challenged. Learning is collaborative, experiential, and student-centred, encouraging children to develop confidence in expressing ideas, taking initiative, and engaging meaningfully with others.
Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.

Assessment for Learning
Assessment that supports growth
Assessment in the Middle School is designed to support growth and deepen understanding. Through ongoing formative assessments, students receive timely feedback that helps them reflect on their progress, identify areas for improvement, and take greater ownership of their learning. Teachers use a variety of assessment strategies, including observations, discussions, projects, presentations, self-assessments, and peer feedback, to monitor learning and inform instruction.
This continuous approach ensures that assessment remains meaningful, personalised, and responsive to individual student needs while fostering confidence, reflection, and a growth mindset.
Students also participate in ASSET (Assessment of Scholastic Skills through Educational Testing) and various Olympiads to strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and conceptual understanding. These assessments provide valuable insights into learning and encourage students to challenge themselves beyond the classroom curriculum.
Beyond academics, students actively participate in sports, co-curricular programmes, environmental initiatives, leadership opportunities, and community engagement experiences that contribute to their holistic growth. These engagements encourage teamwork, adaptability, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of their role within local and global communities.
The Middle School journey at TSRS is therefore not only about academic preparation but also about shaping thoughtful, compassionate, and confident individuals who are equipped to lead with purpose and integrity.
